Practice Areas

Born in Truro, Colin was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1992, having completed his education at Acadia University (B.A. Hons. 1988), Dalhousie University (LL.B. 1991), and the London School of Economics and Political Science in England (LL.M. with Merit 1993).

Colin is lead counsel in Nova Scotia for a major national grocer. His practice includes institutional and government litigation including representation of parties adverse to the Crown in complex administrative inquiries. Colin has appeared before all levels of courts including the Nova Scotia Provincial Court, Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, Federal Court of Canada, and various administrative tribunals.

Colin was a board member of the Halifax Assistance Fund from 2007 to 2009. He served as Vice President of the Continuing Legal Education Society of Nova Scotia in 1995 to 1996 and then President from 1997 to 1999. He was also the Secretary/Treasurer of the Nova Scotia Medical Legal Society in 1995 to 1996. In 2010 Colin joined the board of directors of the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.  He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2012.
