Litigation: Has represented a variety of clients in complex Commercial, Banking, Insurance and Quasi-Criminal matters.
Lead counsel for the Plaintiff in Newfoundland's First Class Action Lawsuit.
Has successfully appeared before all levels of court in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador including the Provincial Court, the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, Trial Division and the Court of Appeal. John has conducted various trials and appeals both alone and in conjunction with a litigation team. John also has experience appearing before administrative tribunals.
Insurance: Has represented major insurers of Auto, Home, and General Commercial Liability.
Banking and Financial Services Litigation: Has extensive Banking Litigation experience and has represented Chartered Banks, Credit Unions and other financial institutions in pursuing claims and in defending claims against large and small financial institutions.
General Commercial: Has represented a variety of clients in purchase and sale of operations and business assets, public and/or private financing, recovery of commercial debts, organization and incorporation of public entities and internal management issues.
Immigration: Primarily represents businesses, families and individuals who require assistance in Applying for Permanent Residency, Work Visas, or Visitor visas to Canada. Also has assisted individuals wishing to obtain permission to leave their home country to visit Canada. John also has experience representing Refugee claimants wishing to immigrate to Canada.
Marine: Represents a variety of clients in financing vessel purchase or construction.
Has considerable experience litigating fishing license disputes, representing both individuals and larger enterprises.
