Robbie MacKeigan, QC, of Cox & Palmer's Halifax office, has been appointed chair of the board of governors of the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia. Attorney General and Justice Minister Ross Landry announced the appointment on February 17.
"As a lawyer, Mr. MacKeigan brings the benefit of his skill and experience to the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia," said Mr. Landry. "We are pleased to appoint him as chair and are confident he will serve Nova Scotians well."
Robbie practices corporate and commercial law. He has been a member of the Bar since 1970 graduating from Dalhousie law school and, with distinction, from the University of London (England). He is a past president of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, a past president of the Nova Scotia branch of the Canadian Bar Association, and a member of the International Bar Association. He serves on the board of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, which made him a fellow in 2008.
The chair of the board of governors of the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia is a joint recommendation of the bar society and attorney general. The Law Foundation of Nova Scotia maintains funds for projects to research and reform law and legal education. The board of governors is responsible for making grant decisions.
