Legal Assistant - Corporate/Commercial - Halifax

Description:    Legal Assistants are responsible for providing secretarial service and legal assistant support to the assigned lawyers.

Position Status:
    Permanent, full-time position based in our Halifax office.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Accurate preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
  2. Process daily e-mails, phone messages and time sheets.
  3. Maintain detailed and accurate client and administrative files.
  4. Calendar maintenance: schedule and organize meetings, assist with client meetings, make travel arrangements and update address books.
  5. Provide overflow support and help to other assistants as time allows.
  6. Other duties, as required.


Completion of a legal assistant or paralegal diploma from a recognized institution.


The successful legal assistant will possess 2 + years of Corporate Commercial experience.

Skills & Qualifications

  1. Intermediate to advanced MS Word skills. Experience using Outlook and Aderant Expert an asset.
  2. Minimum 60 wpm typing speed and transcription experience.
  3. Excellent proofreading, spelling and grammar skills.
  4. Superior organizational abilities. Detail oriented.
  5. Outstanding communication skills.
